Shepard Fairey a Napoli
#Obey PAN, Palazzo delle Arti Napoli, Palazzo Roccella – fino al 28 febbraio 2015
Un breve soggiorno a Napoli, per lavoro, è stata l’occasione per perdermi nelle vie di una delle città più belle del mondo. E anche per visitare la mostra #Obey curata da Massimo Sgroi. Qui ho potuto vedere dal vivo le opere dell’autore dell’immagine stilizzata di Barack Obama soprapposta alle parole “Hope, Change, Progress”. Un ritratto che è stato simbolo della campagna elettorale dell’allora candidato alla presidenza degli Stati Uniti, e che oggi è considerata la più efficace illustrazione politica americana, oltre che un’icona pop.
A short brief stay in Naples, to work, was an opportunity to get lost in the streets of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. And also to visit the exhibition #Obey by Massimo Sgroi. Here I could see live the works of the author of the stylized image of Barack Obama overlaying the words "Hope, Change, Progress". A portrait that was the symbol of the campaign of the then candidate for President of the United States, which is now considered the most effective American political illustration, as well as a pop icon.
Organizzata da Password Onlus con l’Assessorato alla Cultura e al Turismo del Comune di Napoli, la mostra ha il patrocinio del Consolato degli Stati Uniti d’America a Napoli, oltre al supporto di Jaguar Land Rover, Tudor, Giglio Arte e l’Associazione Spirale d’Idee. Grazie a tutte queste forze ho potuto ammirare una rassegna di ben 90 opere di Shepard Fairey, che oltre a raccontare l’evoluzione stilistica dello street artist americano rappresentano anche una immersione nei temi sociali del nostro tempo.
Organized by non-profit Password Onlus with the Department of culture and tourism of the city of Naples, the exhibition has the patronage of the Consulate of the United States of America in Naples, with a support of Jaguar Land Rover, Tudor, Giglio Arte e l’Associazione Spirale d’Idee. Thanks to all these forces I could admire an exhibition of as many as 90 works by Shepard Fairey, which besides telling the stylistic evolution of american street artist, represent also an immersion in social issues of our time.
